Equine Bodywork
Offering Equine Bodywork and The Art of Informed Presence
A Somatic Integration Program for the Advanced Manual Therapist
A muscle is never just a muscle—it is a record of movement, a vessel for emotion, and a component of a complex neurological web.
A Whole-Horse Approach to Healing. This program isn't just about physical recovery; it’s about restoring the horse to their natural state of balance. By combining myofascial release and anatomy-based bodywork with the subtle arts of vibrational and energetic healing we address the horse as a complete being.
What sets this work apart is the exploration and understanding of herd-based behavior. The Social Architecture of Healing A horse’s body is a reflection of its place in the world. To touch a horse is to touch the entire history of its herd. We don’t just "work on" the horse; we communicate with them. By honoring their natural language and instincts, we create a safe space for deep physical and emotional release.
Instructor Kim Savage

Her work is grounded in the belief that true healing arises when we listen deeply—to the body, the spirit, and the wisdom that already lives within

Equine Bodywork and The Art of Informed Presence
A Somatic Integration Program for the Advanced Manual Therapist
A muscle is never just a muscle—it is a record of movement, a vessel for emotion, and a component of a complex neurological web.
Equine Bodywork and The Art of Informed Presence is a bridge for the thinking practitioner. This program invites you to translate your clinical mastery into the equine world, blending rigorous anatomical science with the subtle ethology of the horse. We move past the mechanical to enter the realm of somatic resonance, where your hands become the conduit for a horse’s structural and emotional return to balance.
The Pillars of Mastery
I. The Biomechanical Understanding
From Human to Equine: A Comparative Study We don’t just teach horse anatomy; we translate it. Using your existing knowledge of the human musculoskeletal system, we explore the Kinematic Chain of the horse.
The "Smart" Edge: We dive deep into the thoracic sling and the hyoid apparatus, examining how cranial-sacral rhythms dictate the fluidity of a horse's gait.
The Approachable Reality: You’ll learn to feel the difference between a structural restriction and an emotional "holding pattern" with the same nuance you apply to your human clients.
II. Ethological Intelligence & Herd Dynamics
The Social Architecture of Healing A horse’s body is a reflection of its place in the world. To touch a horse is to touch the entire history of its herd.
The "Smart" Edge: We study Applied Ethology—the science of animal behavior—to understand how the autonomic nervous system of a prey animal processes stress, safety, and social hierarchy.
The Approachable Reality: We teach you to "listen" with your skin. By understanding herd dynamics, you’ll recognize why a dominant horse holds tension in the jaw (the "leader’s burden") while a timid horse may brace through the diaphragm.
III. Somatic Resonance & Bio-Electric Signaling
The Physics of Energy Energy is not a vague concept; it is the measurable interaction of two electromagnetic fields.
The "Smart" Edge: Drawing on Polyvagal Theory, we explore how the practitioner’s own heart-rate variability can "entrain" the horse’s nervous system toward homeostasis.
The Approachable Reality: This is the "quiet" part of the work. You will learn to modulate your own presence to create a field of safety that allows the horse to release deep-seated trauma without a single forceful stroke.
Focus
The Scientific "Why"
The Intuitive "How"
Fascial Continuity
Understanding the tensegrity of the equine fascial web.
Melting into the tissue rather than forcing a release.
Neurological Reset
Stimulating the parasympathetic response for systemic repair.
Reading the "blink and the breath" as a dialogue of consent.
Postural Analysis
Identifying compensatory patterns in the spine and limbs.
Seeing the horse’s spirit through their physical silhouette.
